Community Outreach Programme
The Community Outreach Programme builds links and raises awareness of the rights of disabled people within the Kampot community. Our community team works with over 500 people living with disabilities in the province, collaborating with partner organisations to provide physical rehabilitation, deaf education or skills training, setting up self help groups and promoting the message 'see ability, not disability'.
We also work closely with the Provincial Office of Education to promote inclusive education opportunities within Kampot. This work includes:
Workshops with Students in Schools
Artistic workshops carried out with the students of 12 secondary schools (Grade 7-9), led by the Vocational Training Programme students
Workshops with Teachers in Schools
Teachers participate in a guided discussion about teaching students with disabilities, discussing their own experiences and sharing best practice.
Workshops with the Provincial Teacher Training Centre (PTTC)
Raising awareness amongst the next generation of Cambodian educators, these workshops aim to change attitudes towards students with disabilities in schools across the region
Epic Arts' documentary film "Encourage and I Can", by Purple Field Productions is currently on its Cambodian tour. The film promotes the message of ability by following the personal story of Chakriya, our Administrator, and how she has triumphed over adversity through the support and encouragement of her friends and family.
