UK PROJECTS : 2009
BANGABANDHU SCHOOL – BETHNAL GREEN
We will be piloting a forum theatre project at Bangabandhu School in preparation to roll out the programme later in the year in mainstream schools. This programme of theatre is specifically designed for 10 – 13 year-olds and its aim is to raise awareness about disability and give students the opportunity to have their say about their own personal experience of disability.
CHELSEA & WESTMINSTER HOSPITAL
6 weeks of Drama and Reminiscence workshops for a Care of the elderly ward and an HIV ward at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital finishing with an end of project performance featuring patients stories in the atrium.
CHINA
We will be taking a team to Xining in Northern China to work at three orphanages providing a training programme of visual art and drama for staff and teachers for children with learning and physical disabilities where there is little or no creative provision for the children.
L’ARCHE - WEST NORWOOD
9 weeks of drama, dance and movement workshops for adults with learning disability. For five of the weeks we will be making a music video inspired by the artist Sigur Ros. The participants will have the opportunity to try street dance and be choreographed and filmed to make their own music video.
MALMESBURY SCHOOL
Epic Arts will provide a Drawing Differently art week in the summer term where students will have the opportunity to draw using their senses visiting five sensory stations in a creative labyrinth where they will be able to draw from touch, draw movement, draw using different body parts, draw from sight and draw from sound.
MILE END HOSPITAL
A programme of visual art, photography, drama and reminiscence at Mile End hospital working across six wards. The programme will focus on wards for patients recovering from falls, wound care, rehabilitation, dementia, long-term care and orthopaedic surgery with an end of term celebration bringing patients from different wards together with music and a performance of work devised in the drama and reminiscence workshop.
PHOENIX SPECIAL SCHOOL – MILE END
A six-week project called Room 13, which will provide a creative space for children at the school. There, they will be able to explore various visual arts disciplines and have the freedom to create without usual timetable constraints. In addition to this we will also be carrying out a six-week visual art & photography project culminating in an exhibition at the school.
SMART – CHELSEA
An ongoing visual art project working in a day centre in Kensington & Chelsea for adults with mental health problems where participants have the opportunity to explore drawing, painting and crafts.
